Sashiko is a very simple stitching technique dating back to the 1600’s. It literally means “little stabs” and is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching from Japan. Sashiko is a form of darning that is used with patching and layering in the trend for visible mending as seen with the artists Celia Pym and Tom of Holland.

- you will learn the basics of Sashiko and be encouraged to get creative with patching and layering on both decorative pieces and clothing
