Sashiko is a very simple stitching technique dating back to the 1600’s. It literally means “little stabs” and is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching from Japan. Sashiko is a form of darning that is used with patching and layering in the trend for visible mending as seen with the artists Celia Pym and Tom of Holland.

  • no experience is required for this class
  • you will learn the basics of Sashiko and be encouraged to get creative with patching and layering on both decorative pieces and clothing
  • all materials will be provided
  • drinks and light refreshments will be provided, but please bring your own lunch

Terri has run her own companies specialising in innovative transfers, hand stitching and embellishments on garments, accessories and cushions. She has also freelanced for Paul Smith and Holland Esquire as a details designer and hand customiser.
